• Blackboard Slowness - RESOLVED | Posted Thursday, November 1, 2012 - 9:00am

    The CGCE Blackboard system is currently experiencing periods of slowness when loading "My Courses" and other course materials. The CGCE Online Services team is currently working with Blackboard, Inc. to resolve the issue. In the meantime, some pages in Blackboard may take up to 2 minutes to fully load. As we are already aware of the issue, there is no need to submit a support ticket. We apologize for the inconvenience.

    UPDATE - CGCE has been working with Blackboard to correct the performance issues with our Blackboard system. As of approx 1:15 PM on 11/1, the issues seem to have been resolved. Users who are continuing to experience issues should contact support asap by submitting a ticket to the Support Center after logging into the CGCE Portal.

  • Blackboard Maintenance on 11/01 (Service Interruption Expected) | Posted Wednesday, October 31, 2012 - 9:44am

    CGCE's Blackboard system will go down for emergency maintenance between the hours of 2AM and 4AM eastern on Thurs Nov 1st. This maintenance is being done to address the slowness in parts of the system. Many faculty and students have noticed that Dashboard modules, grade center, and related areas of the Blackboard system are taking an excessive amount of time to load properly. Blackboard, Inc has suggested that the issue is related to the need for a series of aggregate system patches to be applied to the back-end system. Said patches will be applied tonight during the scheduled maintenance window. The system is expected to go off-line during the maintenance period. Students & instructors should note the outage and plan accordingly.

    As inclement weather approaches the South Jersey region, be advised that Rowan CGCE Online Systems may experience some outages or inability to log into services due to outages. CGCE's Blackboard system is hosted by Blackboard, Inc at their Alexandria, VA. Blackboard has notified CGCE that precautions related to backup generators and equipment failure preparedness have been put in place. CGCE's rowanonline.com web site and the CGCE Portal are hosted by Media Temple in Culver City, CA. We do not expect our web site and related system to be affected by the coming storm. Authentication Services, including login for the CGCE Portal, Gmail, Library Services, and CGCE Blackboard are hosted locally at Rowan Campus in Glassboro, NJ. It is possible that this service will be impacted by power outages and loss of Internet service due to the storm. CGCE Online Services will attempt to post announcements to the CGCE Portal at rowanonline.com/portal to keep you informed of interruptions to our services and expected times for service restoration. Thank you in advance for your patience while we prepare for and manage the effects of the oncoming storm.

    As of 1:30pm on Saturday, October 27, login issues affecting access to the CGCE Portal and other resources (student Gmail, etc.) have been resolved. CGCE students and faculty should now be able to access the Portal as normal. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

    CGCE's Blackboard system will undergo planned system maintenance on Friday October 12th between the hours of 2AM and 6AM. There may be a possible service interruption during the scheduled maintenance period. Faculty & Students should note the planned maintenance period and adjust your schedules accordingly.
